Schools have been reminded that they should not encourage parents to request unnecessary medical evidence ie doctors’ notes from their GP when their child is absent from school due to illness. If evidence is required, the school can take the form of prescriptions, appointment cards, text or email confirmation of appointments, etc. rather than a doctors’ note.
